Overview

Scenario planning is a vital tool that can help stakeholders make decisions in light of an uncertain future. This webinar will cover the fundamentals of scenario planning and feature two case studies covering how scenario planning is used to inform landscape-scale conservation efforts in real world settings.

Presenters

Joe Marlow, senior economist with the Sonoran Institute, will provide a comprehensive introduction to scenario planning, including a brief history of scenario planning and how to conduct a scenario planning process.

Stephen Aldrich, president of Bio-Era, will discuss his experience using scenario planning to strengthen the preparedness and adaptive capacity of the Hudson River Estuary Watershed to meet the impacts of future climate change.

Kent Redford, principal at Archipelago Consulting, will discuss Futures of the Wild – a project of the Wildlife Conservation Society Futures Group. This formal scenario process outlined six future scenarios that might affect the ability of the Wildlife Conservation Society to achieve its mission.
